why use filmNOVA // understanding film production

The programme production process consists of several key stages and it's important to start with a brief from the client outlining objectives. At this early stage we can give an idea of likely costs.

A filmNova producer is assigned and manages the project through every stage

In depth discussions with the client and research is the key to developing ideas and a treatment.

The budget is confirmed against the agreed treatment and outline production schedule.

Often, where clients have a fixed or limited budget we tailor the production to suit.

Once the client has approved the treatment and budget we write a detailed script and running order.

If a presenter, actors or casting is required we select and negotiate fees.

A detailed filming schedule is prepared following location surveys.

Location or studio filming is carried out to the agreed timetable.

Any graphics are story boarded and produced.

On completion of filming the camera tapes are ingested into our in-house AVID digital editing system.

The programme is assembled and the first edit shown to the client either at filmNova or at the clients office.

Any amends are made then a second showing is arranged to sign off the edit and script.

The commentary is recorded and music and sound tracks are mixed.

The completed programme is transferred to a master digital tape ready for transfer or authoring to DVD master.
